Why We Love 19 Greens Point Road Ipswich with it's every changing views.

Many things come to mind when we think of why we love our house. You might think that the fact that we chose the site and built it to our specifications would be enough. And in some ways it is. But we love our house for many other reasons as well.

We love how prettily it sits on the slight knoll when you drive down the street seeming to welcome us each time we come home to it. We love knowing that no matter how busy or stressful the day, just stepping onto the back deck and taking in the beautiful view can relax us. For this, we can thank our architect who sited the house to maximize both the view and the sun?s course in the sky. And this is the most important reason why we love our home. The big sky outside with it?s beautiful sunrises and moonrises, the ever changing marsh with it?s high and low tides, the fields of wildflowers and the distant hills that are always changing, always offering something different, yet familiar, with the passing seasons. Depending upon the time of day and year the way the light plays on the marsh and field grasses makes it an ever changing palette of beauty.

In spring we listen for the harbingers of spring; the Spring Peepers and American Toads calling from the pond at the top of the hill. We look and listen for the arrival of the first Red-Winged Blackbirds. The steady greening of the marsh as the grasses start to grow and the first buds of red fuzz on the trees on the hill also let us know that spring has sprung.

In summer mostly, but anytime when the conditions are right, you can see the most beautiful full rainbows; sometimes double ones At this time of year, the marsh has greened up and the fields are filled with wildflowers and butterflies. In mid-August the swallows gather on our street getting ready to start their migration south. One year as we stood on the deck the air was filled with these graceful birds seemingly dancing. The unique meeting of marsh, field and forest attracts a great array of beautiful birds including red tailed hawks, great blue herons, osprey and American woodcocks. Our neighbors have even seen an Eagle flying over the neighborhood.

Fall brings the most beautiful full moons, huge yellow-orange globes rising in the east, which simply take your breath away. The V formations of honking Canada Geese passing through let you know that it won?t be long for until winter. The view is changing once again, from varying shades of green to many different hues of orange, red and brown. We love to have outdoor fire pits during this time of year. The night sky is absolutely filled with stars. We look for the North Star, the Big Dipper and other constellations. It?s a great place to watch meteor showers too.

In winter the view changes yet again and is especially pretty covered in snow. This is the time when the Great Horned Owls calls at night and there is a great stillness during the day. Sitting cozy by the fireplace while it?s snowing or after a walk on the beach is one of winter?s pleasures in our home.

The beautiful setting is the main reason that we love our house but there are others as well. The first is that it?s so convenient to everything. It?s just a few minute drive to the shops downtown where you can pick up just anything that you need and it?s less than 10 minutes to Crane beach. We also love that our street is quiet, our neighborhood safe and our neighbors nice.
